A woman tried to travel on a flight with a gun inside a chicken

Miami, (EFE).- A woman was arrested at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, in Florida, for carrying a concealed firearm in a chicken raw food in your luggage, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The TSA posted several photos on social media of the loaded gun inside the chicken, which was plucked and ready to cook inside a plastic bag, accompanied by humorous comments about Thanksgiving travel.

The detained woman was going to board a flight from the airport located about 35 kilometers north of Miami. TSA did not report the destination but some media published that it was Haiti.

The TSA released a report last week indicating that 700 weapons have been seized at Florida airport checkpoints so far this year, a record number.

And precisely the Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), with 120 weapons seized, is second on the list in Florida, headed by the Orlando International Airport, with 129.

Almost all of these guns were loaded and most had ammunition in the chamber.

“An accidental discharge could result in a tragedy,” a TSA spokesman said.

According to the Spanish channel Telemundo, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport broke a record in 2021 for passengers detected with weapons at checkpoints with more than a hundred seized.

“As we enter the end-of-the-year travel window, remember if you’re going to be traveling with your gun, it needs to be in your checked baggage, but make sure you know what the gun laws are on each side of your trip or you can be detained instead of coming to your family reunion,” TSA spokeswoman Sari Koshetz wrote in a statement.

“It may not be legal to carry weapons even in checked baggage in some jurisdictions,” he said.

“Like it or not, there are rules for traveling with weapons and ammunition. So don’t be impatient,” a TSA spokesperson wrote.
