Industrial production declined in 12 of the 15 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) from August to September 2022. The biggest drops were observed in Santa Catarina (-5.1%) and Paraná (-4 .3%), according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production released today (8).
There were also falls greater than the national average (-0.7%), the states of Pará (-3.7%), São Paulo (-3.3%), Goiás (-2.9%), Amazonas ( -2.9%), Espírito Santo (-2.2%), Minas Gerais (-1.7%), Bahia (-1.3%) and Rio of January (-1.1%). The least intense declines were observed in Mato Grosso (-0.4%) and Rio Grande do Sul (-0.2%).
Only three places had increases: the states of Ceará (3.7%) and Pernambuco (2%), in addition to the Northeast (0.6%), the only region that has its consolidated data released by the IBGE.
In comparison with September last year, there were increases in eight of the 15 places surveyed, with highlights for Mato Grosso (37.5%) and Amazonas (13.7%). Decreases were observed in seven places, the largest of which were registered in Espírito Santo (-14.7%) and Pará (-13.4%).
In the accumulated result for the year, there were increases in seven areas, the largest being in Mato Grosso (25.7%). Of the eight places in decline, the main loss was registered in Pará (-8.8%).
In the 12-month period, the increases reached only six places, with emphasis once again on Mato Grosso (23.2%). Nine places had decrease, being the biggest of them in Pará (-8.4%).
