The pandemic, which got off to a strong start in the world in 2020, has had an impact on different sectors and securing jobs for 2022 will be a difficult task, according to projections from the International Labor Organization (ILO), which foresees in its report «Social prospects and employment in the world» that for this year the rate of job it will be 55.9%, which indicates a deficit of 1.4% compared to 2019.

According to the projections of said entity, in the 2022 52 million full-time jobs will be lost due to labor market disruptions caused by the crisis brought on by the COVID pandemic. However, although this is an “extremely high” figure, it is a considerable improvement when compared to 2021, when 125 million positions were maintained.

“The activity rate, which fell by nearly two percentage points between 2019 and 2020, is projected to partially recover to just below 59.3 percent in 2022, or about 1 percentage point per below its 2019 level,” indicates the ILO study.

The entity clarified that many of the people who left the security force job they have not rejoined
of it, so the level of unemployment it does not fully reflect the repercussions of the crisis caused by COVID at the global level.

207 million unemployed

In addition, the global unemployment rate is estimated to remain above the level reached in 2019 at least until 2023. In addition, the total number of unemployed is expected to reach 207 million in 2022, which represents a decrease of 7 million, a figure that contrasts with the 186 million unemployed in 2019.
