They ask for help on social networks to find a group of 23 Cuban migrants

MADRID, Spain.- A group of at least 23 Cuban migrants has been missing since October 31. Since this Monday, petitions have been published on social networks to help locate them.

As activist Albert Fonse shared through Facebook, the Cubans were residents of the Batabanó municipality, Mayabeque province; and they threw themselves into the sea along the north coast of Artemis. At least one minor was on the boat.

Albert Fonse, who specified the names of some of the disappeared, asked anyone with information to contact him.

Among the missing migrants are Denis Michel Linares (23 years old); Alian Martínez Collazo (27 years old), Yunior Rúa Tamayo (25 years old) and Yosvany Pantaleón Álvarez (44 years old).

In comments to the publication, several neighbors said they hope that they have been intercepted by the Coast Guard and are well.

Every week, dozens of Cuban rafters flee the island with the aim of reaching the United States. Some make it, others are intercepted by US Coast Guard agents and later deported to Cuba, and many have perished at sea before reaching land.

On August 28, another group of Cuban rafters disappeared off the coast of Sagua la Grande. Two of them were found dead in Cayo Esquivel, northwest of Villa Clara, according to several family members and friends on social networks.

The Cuban Ministry of the Interior indicated on August 28 in an informative note that Border Guard Troops were searching for the group after receiving an emergency call from one of the rafters, presumably Yuliet.

This weekend it emerged that the United States Coast Guard had transferred a group of 43 Cuban rafters to the Bahamas, after being found stranded in Cayo Damas and Cayo Sal, belonging to Bahamian territory.
