Three Dominican finalists for prizes in GL

Dominicans Manny Machado, Sandy Alcántara and Julio Rodríguez are on the list of finalists in three of the four most important season-ending awards in the Major Leagues.

Machado, of the San Diego Padres, is among the three finalists for the National League Most Valuable Player award. He shares that distinction with Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, both of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Alcántara, of the Miami Marlins, is among the three candidates to compete for the “Old Circuit” Cy Young Award along with fellow pitchers Max Fried, of the Atlanta Braves, and Julio Urías, of the Los Angeles Dodgers. .

Instead, Rodríguez of the Seattle Mariners will fight for the American League Rookie of the Year award with Steven Kwan of the Cleveland Guardians and Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles.
