The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, will announce this Monday in the province of Mendoza a battery of fiscal and credit measures to protect the economies of various Andean provinces that in recent days have been affected by late frosts, which destroyed a large part of the production of grapes, cherries, pears, apples, pumpkins and walnuts.
Within this framework, Massa summoned the authorities of the productive area of the provinces of Mendoza, San Juan, Río Negro, Neuquén and Catamarca and the economic actors affected by the frosts, “to implement a set of fiscal and credit measures to protect to the sector,” the minister said this afternoon through his account on the social network Twitter.
The announcements, which will be made by the head of the Palacio de Hacienda in an act that will begin in the morning in the town of Luján de Cuyo, are a battery of “fiscal and credit measures” to protect the sector, to which will be added a request for disbursements for climatic emergencies to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

“Climate change is doing great damage to production systems. In recent days, a late frost from the Pacific destroyed part of the production of the Andean economies, affecting Mendoza, San Juan, Río Negro, Neuquén and Catamarca, among others,” said the minister.
And he added that “this is why we summon all the production ministers of the provinces and the affected economic actors, to implement a set of fiscal and credit measures to protect the sector.”

Lastly, he said that parallel to the call, the Government is “going to demand that the Inter-American Development Bank open the disbursement process for climatic emergencies, in order to make available the greatest possible amount of resources in order to keep the producing our regional economies”.
