LOOK: Minister for Women describes Aníbal Torres’ sexist comments to Sol Carreño as “excessive”

“Bad faith, bad behavior, that woman who does that is a bad mother, she cannot be a good mother, she is a bad wife, she cannot be a good wife, she is a bad daughter, she cannot be a good daughter, if she has children she is only deforming her children, he raises them with superiority complexes”, were the unfortunate words expressed by the President of the Council of Ministers during a session in which the media were also present.

This last Sunday, the driver took a few minutes from her Sunday program to refer to the cruel words received from the head of the PCM.

“You have heard it, the President of the Council of Ministers referred to this program without saying names and we are not going to respond to his grievances, which by the way we consider somewhat worthy of a gentleman of his age and education, but we must say that we consider profoundly sexist because in the first place he did not refer at any time to the male reporter, nor to the male director, but only referred to this driver, this lady, and incidentally he referred to issues that are not within his competence or his knowledge, that has nothing to do with the professional and that they do not make you look very good, really”said Sol Carreno.

Lawmakers criticize Torres

Legislators such as Susel Paredes (Purple Party), Martha Moyano (Popular Force) and Patricia Chirinos (Avanza País) criticized Torres Vásquez for these statements and showed their support for the journalist.

“By opinion, by political discrepancies, by disagreements regarding freedom of information, who has the authority to judge strictly personal aspects? Bad mother, bad wife, bad daughter? What thing? The premier lost his compass. My solidarity with Sol Carreño. Scandalous”, wrote Paredes Piqué on his social networks.

“Listen to how he talks about a woman. I don’t blame him for being born male, but he is a clear example of a macho who is capable of sending a woman who dares to think to the stake. I forgot that this man is Castillo’s prime minister, that’s how we are,” Moyano said.

Manuela Ramos also pronounces

The Peruvian feminist organization “Manuela Ramos” also rejected the expressions of the president of the Council of Ministers, considering it a speech with “stereotypes and prejudices.”

Flora Tristan pronounces

For its part, the organization “Flora Tristán” spoke about the words of the premier, indicating that it is “an act of discrimination to use a high public position and the arena of the State to issue stereotyped and discriminatory statements about women.”
