President Maduro participates in the Food Security Table at COP27

In the context of his participation in the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Egypt, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, spoke this Monday at the Working Table on Food safety.

The debate, which takes place at the Sharm El Sheikh International Convention Center, seeks to establish a common front to fight the challenge of climate change, a challenge for the production, transformation, distribution, consumption and availability of food on a global scale, refers to a note Presidential Press.

Previously, the Head of State advocated the implementation of agreements to counteract the effects of the climate emergency about the human species. He also welcomed the position of his Egyptian counterpart, Abdelfatah El-Sisi, who requested “clear and concrete results” from the global leaders attending the summit.

Regarding the crisis generated by the destructive capitalist model, Maduro emphasized -upon his arrival in Egypt- that Venezuela will raise its voice for the peoples of the South in defense of a humanistic and respectful model of life on the planet.

Bilateral meetings at COP27

Continuing with the extensive work agenda of President Nicolás Maduro at COP27, specifically in the context of the High Level Segmentthe president holds several bilateral meetings on Monday in the city of Sharm El Sheikh.

The first one was with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne. The Presidential Press refers in this regard that the meeting, which was attended by Foreign Minister Carlos Faría, focused on reviewing the agreements and projects between both nations.

Regarding Venezuela’s relationship with the Caribbean nations, the Venezuelan Head of State has prioritized cooperation with them, and has pointed out that these ties must continue to advance through integration spaces such as: Petrocaribe, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America- People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

New models of cooperation between Venezuela and Suriname

Similarly, President Maduro held a meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of SurinameChan Santokhi. At the meeting, the leaders reviewed the complementarity agenda, to further boost the ties between the two countries.

Venezuela and Suriname maintain cooperation agreements in the political, financial, agricultural, energy and cultural areas, based on the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace and complementarity between peoples.

Currently, the two countries are working on a new stage in their relations. In this regard, President Maduro has highlighted that they are two nations and two peoples that have an experience of good relations, supported by the clear and strong will to move towards new models of cooperation.

Throughout their relations, Venezuela and Suriname have worked on joint plans for energy efficiency and optimization, as well as deepening trade relations.
