This Monday it was learned that the Chamber for the Definition of Legal Situations of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), summoned for November 23, 24 and 25, 2022, General (r) Jesús Armando Arias Cabrales, to a unique hearing ” to make an early and exhaustive contribution of truth in person”.
The alternative justice body further reported that “In this hearing, which will be public, the participation of the victims will be guaranteed, both face-to-face and virtually.
It was also indicated that in order to hold this hearing, “the court, in compliance with an order from the JEP’s Appeals Section, created Special Subchamber F, with judges Claudia Rocío Saldaña (rapporteur), José Miller Hormiga and Camilo Andrés Suárez ( in mobility from the Section of First Instance for Cases of Recognition of Truth and Responsibility)”.

According to the JEP, “once this hearing is held, theThe court must evaluate the truth contributions of the retired general on the facts concerning the retaking of the Palace of Justice and determine if they meet the requirements to maintain their submission to the JEP and the Comprehensive System for Peace.”
It should be noted that in July of this year, “the Appeals Section revoked the provisional benefit of freedom granted initially to retired General Arias Cabrales and conditioned the maintenance of his submission to the JEP to an immediate contribution to the full truth”.
Likewise, it was pointed out that “this decision was taken in view of the fact that, after two years of submitting to the JEP and being released, the general has not complied with his obligation to clarify the facts related to the retaking of the Palace of Justice did not even heed the call made on two occasions by the Truth Commission”.
