Havana Cuba. – Given the growing rumor that the distribution of some regulated products would be affected in November, the newspaper Tribune of Havana has published a note to try to reassure the public, especially regarding the rationed sale of rice.
For several days the rumor has been circulating in the capital that this month only one pound of rice per consumer would be shipped, to which Marcos Aguirre, director of Merchandise Sales, Gastronomic Services and Energy Savings Program (PAE) of the Provincial Company of Commerce of Havana, has responded by assuring that the rice assigned by the basic basket will be distributed in its entirety, but in a fractioned manner according to the availability of the product.
According to the manager, the month’s quota began to be distributed based on what existed in inventory; Hence, the municipalities of Centro Habana, Habana Vieja, Cerro and Plaza de la Revolución received four pounds; Playa, Marianao and La Lisa three pounds; and the rest just one. The official also stated that around November 10 the seven pounds per consumer would be guaranteed.
Aguirre also pointed out that since mid-October three additional pounds of rice are being delivered free of charge, and that as of Monday, November 7, the Guanabacoa municipality will begin the delivery of the “donation module”, which includes rice, grains, sugar. , pasta and sardines.
After the “reassuring” statements, Marcos Aguirre recognized damages in the sale of regulated coffee, population chicken, soy yogurt and salt, which since October has been sold in bulk, at six pesos per kilogram corresponding to each nucleus. .
In the comments section, several citizens denied or questioned the director’s words, since there are municipalities that are still waiting for the third installment of the aforementioned donation module and mothers who have not received the compotes for their children.
On the other hand, it is irresponsible to believe that a family nucleus can get by on a single pound of rice during the first 10 days of the month, in a country where pasta is only available ―Not frequently― in the stores in freely convertible currency (MLC), and the food goes up in price every day.
