Vehicle owners owe the Municipality of Panama a total of 19,594,106 dollars and 6 cents, for payment of circulation taxes. This was reported by the Municipal Treasury when specifying that this delinquency is until October 2022.
They specified that until this date, the collection remained at $16,598,319.25 cents, that is, less than half and well below the estimate.
Another situation considered worrying is knowing that in 2021 a total of 133,195 vehicle owners did not withdraw their license plate, out of the total registered vehicle fleet, which is 883,951 motor vehicles. Similarly, two months before the end of 2022, a total of 442,310 decals have not yet been removed despite facilities such as pick-up by appointment and home deliveries.
The municipal authorities detailed that in total there are 575 thousand 505 badges; plates and decals, without withdrawing in the deposits of the Municipality of Panama that after two more years will leave the system and will no longer be issued.
Recently, the Municipal Treasury announced that on January 2, 2023, the appointment service system for the delivery of vehicle badges corresponding to November and December 2022 will end. For the remainder of 2022, taxpayers will be able to withdraw up to 10 license plates. different people without exception, and those who own more than vehicles will be able to remove unlimited decals.
The Municipality of Panama urged vehicle owners to get up to date and be safe and secure, and have their documents in force, including the Vehicle Inspection which is a requirement of the ATTT.
To carry out these procedures at the License Plate Center, located in the Francisco Arias Paredes park, the hours of operation are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Likewise, the Municipality of Panama has been emphatic so that the owners of damaged vehicles, sold for parts or disappeared, declare them ‘out of circulation’ before the Municipality and the ATTT.
So that each vehicle has an updated status, because otherwise it will continue to be subject to taxes, penalties and contempt charges.
