The Ministry of Labor indicated that on November 9, a national holiday for the National Census, no person will be forced to attend their workplace. They will only be able to work by means of a consensual agreement with their employer and the payment for the day worked must be 100% of the ordinary hourly wage for the working day.
“They cannot force the worker if he does not want to show up at his workplace, but if an agreement is reached because they argue that it is an essential activity, then they must receive a 100% surcharge,” stressed the Labor Minister, Carla Bacigalupo.
He also indicated that the State portfolio still did not receive complaints about employers that would force their employees to report to workand stressed that the Ministry of Labor will be available to workers with all its mediation services to convene the employer, taking into account that it was established on November 9, a national holiday.
“We are governed by the rules of the holiday and of course all the conciliatory instances of the Mtess will be attentive to any complaint made by the worker, whether nominal or anonymous,” Bacigalupo emphasized.
It should be noted that within the work activities of the year, there are some dates that are considered days holidays In Paraguay. These days are paid holiday, that is to say that they are paid without it being a working day. Therefore, in case of working on such dates, there is a remuneration with surcharge. Holidays in Paraguay are determined by law.

CENSUS
Law 6987, which establishes Wednesday, November 9 as a national holiday throughout the country for the 2022 Census, was enacted by the Executive Branch. The regulations apply to the entire territory only once for the successful completion of the census operation in the field.
For this reason, all the inhabitants of the Republic, both Paraguayans as foreigners, must remain in their homes from 05:00 to 18:00 on that day, in order to wait for the census takers and provide their data accurately.
The movement of people and cargo transportation is prohibited throughout the country, with the exception of those that are at the service of the Census, such as security services and medical care, as well as international transportation.
