This morning a conference was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) to relaunch training on road safety for motorcycle and bicycle delivery men from all over the country, which are carried out through the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP). in compliance with Decree 327/19.
Due to the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, during 2020 and 2021 very few courses on road safety were given and this year the INEFOP has planned to hold around 75 courses, involving some 1,500 delivery men.
It is estimated that throughout the country there are about 15,000 delivery people and that around 30% would already have training. According to current regulations, this training is mandatory to be able to work in this sector of activity.
The course has a total workload of 12 hours distributed in 6 hours of theoretical classes and 6 hours of practical classes, plus two hours of food handling for the department of Montevideo.
These services, at no cost to the participants, are carried out by INEFOP thanks to the joint contribution of workers and businessmen from the private sector and the State.
