The country’s new policy could come from Spain

The country's new policy could come from Spain

A group of compatriots residing in Spain are working to lay the foundations for a political movement, which could influence decision-making in our country. Motivated by the change, said Paraguayans do not leave aside the political task despite the distance.

“Patriotic Integration Movement” (MIP) is an initiative carried out by Paraguayans residing in Spain who, involved from the European country in the political decisions of the Paraguayan nation, are motivated to make a difference in the corroded and worn-out situation regarding the country’s authorities and their true representation.

In this way, currently promoted by a small group, the political movement will seek to gain some space in the Senate, acting in a constant and participatory manner in each of the situations concerning the country’s problems.

According to Daniel González, one of the members of the MIP, the desire to get involved in a more direct way originated after the series of demonstrations carried out at the Paraguayan Consulate in Barcelona, against the blanket lists.

“At that time I was coming out of a fight against cancer and that was my main motivation to get more involved, thinking mainly about health, safety and education problems in Paraguay; I began to wonder how I could bring some change, despite the distance,” said González.

In this way, Myrian Cristaldo, Cristina Campuzano, Tachy Torres, José Ramírez, Carlos Recalde, José Villalba and Daniel González undertook in this long process of shaping the movement to generate a new space for involvement in the political spaces of the country.

HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?
González explained that after the desire to offer alternatives to Paraguayan society regarding the election of its authorities, they began to investigate how they could be a representation in the Senate, until they saw all the necessary requirements in the Court of Electoral Justice ( TSJE) and observed that it was not only a dream, but also a possibility.

The opportunity only exists for the Chamber of Senators, not for Deputies. Then, they analyzed objectives and created a working group among the aforementioned members. The legal representative of the MIP is in Paraguay and they constantly have meetings with him to determine various plans.

Regarding the presentation of projects, González indicated that they will be debated and studied via zoom or some other platform; In this way, the movement will have well-founded support to continue with its projects.

The movement began as a non-profit association. They are all just another citizen, concerned about the difficulties of their country, without any prior participation in other political sectors.

Paraguayans residing in Spain, like those in the country, will be able to vote for the MIP profile. By law, there is no glimpse of any kind of impediment to exercising the right to vote.

Until now, they have not defined representative candidates, they will be determined through an internal one and when that is done, other phases of the project will be launched, already related to the formalization of the candidacies and the presentation of pertinent documents for their officialization.

NEW AIRS
“Apart from all our motivation for change, we want to act from the outside because we also feel abandoned by our authorities, since we continue to contribute to the country and even more so through remittances, which makes us appear as one of the important in the nation”, highlighted González.

Currently they aim to bring together more people who want to join the MIP project, with commitment and credibility. From the movement they believe that the socio-political contribution of the country can make a difference, taking into account the European influence that they can introduce in decision-making.

“It is always said that change can come from outside and we believe that it will be possible to introduce ideas that benefit the country in a general way with new ideas that put an end to the same old things that are sold in Paraguay,” he pointed out.
