President Maduro participates in a high-level meeting at the Climate Summit

This Monday, President Nicolás Maduro arrived at the Sharm El-Sheikh International Convention Center, in Egypt, to participate in the high-level meeting of the Climate Summit (COP27), scheduled for the second day of the event.

Upon his arrival, he was received by the president of the host country, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, as well as by the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

On the day, it is expected to hear the claim to the rich countries for their non-compliance with the financing to combat the scourge, reported Latin Press.

“The homework of preserve life on planet earth It is everyone’s responsibility. Reaching agreements and committing ourselves for the well-being of humanity is the right path. Let’s work for that! », President Maduro published about the important appointment in which, he informed him, he will fulfill a extensive work schedule.

Shortly after, the official photo was taken with the Heads of State, Government and Delegations attending the COP27.

From his Twitter account, Maduro made a call about the negative effects of the capitalist model on the planet.

“We are in an irreversible stage of the damage caused by climate change on the planet due to the capitalist, destructive and highly polluting model. All nations must commit to the execution of concrete actions that seek life on the planet », he published.

Take responsibility for achieving goals

In welcoming the Heads of State and Government participating in the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, called on the community to unite to face together the harmful effects of climate change, which he considered an existential problem for humanity.

“Climate challenges are increasing day by day,” warned the president at the summit that began this Sunday on the Red Sea coast.

If we all assume responsibilities, we can achieve our goals, said the president, addressing the more than 100 invited dignitaries.

Compliance with the 2015 Paris Agreement

Likewise, the Egyptian president called for compliance with the 2015 Paris Agreement, which plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two degrees, and if possible to 1.5, and grants financing to developing countries to mitigate the problems derived from this scourge.

“We need to comply with what was agreed seven years ago, far from slogans,” stressed Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

“Our peoples expect real and tangible steps from us to reduce polluting gas emissions, develop adaptation capacity and provide the necessary financing for the countries that suffer the most,” he stressed.

In addition, El Sisi recalled that global warming and pollution are causing numerous deaths in the world and millions of economic losses.

“It is time to act and there is no place to go back, since the climate challenge will not stop without the united intervention of all,” he warned.

For this reason, he called on the government negotiators participating in the event to be flexible in order to advance agreements and pacts that favor the fight against this problem.

I invite you to move forward and not allow any factor to limit our determination to face the climate challenge, it is time for action and implementation, he concluded.

President Nicolás Maduro showed his support for these words by El Sisi, adding that “this summit has a sense of implementation. Hopefully the implementation of the agreements will be achieved in order to mitigate the tremendous damage that already exists due to climate change.
