The Minister of Education, Jaime Perczykassured today that “we are going to start the year in March with more than 500,000 computers distributed to the children of the public high school,” referring to the restitution of the Connect Equality Program, while reaffirming the intention to guarantee face-to-face attendance during the 2022 school year.

After the re-launch of the Connect Equality Program by the national government last week, the minister announced that by the end of this year “We are going to reach 90% of Argentine kids with Internet at school and a million and a half computers distributed to kids in public secondary schools”.

Speaking to AM 990 radio, Perczyk said: “We are going to start the year in March with more than 500 thousand computers distributed to the children of the public high school and we are putting out to tender a million more computers”.

In relation to the connectivity of the schools so that they have access to the Internet, the minister pointed out: “We are going to connect 2,500 more schools before the end of March.”

He also recalled that all educational platforms with edu.ar domains have free navigation from cell phones due to an agreement between the educational portfolio and Enacom.

At the same time, he remarked: “We are going to work so that there can be navigability, so that the children can have access because it is an educational right.”

On the other hand, he reiterated the importance of starting the 2022 school year with full attendance and stressed that now there are weeks with an “intensive vaccination”.

“We are with a campaign of persuasion, of invitation, of summons”, indicated the official and warned: “It must also be taken into account that the vaccination of the boys began 13 weeks ago.”

“In the youngest, from 3 to 11 years old, there is 45% with the complete scheme and in the adolescents, 65% with the complete scheme,” Perczyk affirmed and underlined: “There is a great effort from the families, from the boys and It is a great effort by health workers”.

“Argentina has, due to an active policy of the national government, a number of vaccines that is important worldwide and that also had an important effect with children,” he added.

On the other hand, the minister announced that “in two weeks” President Alberto Fernández will communicate the purchase of language and mathematics textbooks “for all the children of the public Argentine primary school and the zero-fee private schools.”

“Each boy, each girl, each teacher will have their language and math textbook in order to ensure the right to education,” he concluded.
