Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner affirmed that “after some things there is no better place than to be with the workers”, when leading as a guest a plenary session of delegates of the Metallurgical Workers’ Union (UOM), in the Buenos Aires city of Pilar , where he reappears in public for the first time since the assassination attempt he suffered on September 1.
The leader assured that the first conclusion she drew from the assassination attempt she suffered is that “the allegedly indignant were paid by businessmen identified with the government that indebted Argentina”
The Vice President affirmed “she is resigned to the fact that justice is not going to investigate anything.”
The Vice President supported the implementation of a fixed sum for workers
Cristina Fernández de Kirchner recalled that during her second government “workers’ wages were recovered,” and supported the implementation of a fixed sum that is something that “cannot go against joint negotiation.”
The former president affirmed that “we must represent and organize Peronism” and asked to rediscuss “each point of the GDP so that the budget is more equitable.”
He remarked that before 2019 “there was a government that indebted Argentina” and demanded “incorporate workers into the discussion about a country model.”
The leader emphasized: “I am going to do what I have to do to ensure that our people can organize themselves in a country project that will once again recover hope and joy.”
The act
The Vice President was invited to the UOM congress by the general secretary of the guild, Abel Furlán.
This act takes place in the Municipal Micro-stadium of Pilar and it is the closing of the Regional Congresses that the metallurgical guild developed throughout the country.
The participants are exclusively leaders, congressmen Y affiliates of the metallurgical union, since it is a union plenary session.
Furlán has held the position of general secretary since last March 22, when he was elected successor to the previous head of the UOM, Antonio Caló.
Meanwhile, sources close to the Vice President confirmed to Télam that next November 17 will lead an act for the Day of Militancyat the Diego Maradona stadium (exÚnico) in the city of La Plata, where she will be “the only speaker.”
Federico Achaval: “The future is with everyone, but for the workers the future is with you”
The mayor of Pilar’s Buenos Aires party, Federico Achaval, assured at the closing of the plenary session of delegates of the provincial Metallurgical Workers’ Union (UOM), in which Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner participates, that “the people do not forget” and that “to workers, the future is with you”.
“We want, we bank Cristina,” said Achaval amid applause from the municipal micro-stadium of Pilar, which was packed with workers from the metallurgical sector, delegates, congressmen and union leaders.
Also participating in the act were the Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof, the Mayor of Quilmes, Mayra Mendoza, and the Provincial Community Development Minister, Andrés Larroque, among other leaders of the Front of All.
Likewise, the host mayor affirmed that “the people do not forget the four years of Néstor (Kirchner), nor your eight years as President and how you extended rights.”
“Once again you put the body to believe that another Argentina was possible,” he said, addressing the former president and president of the Senate.
In that sense, he added: “You had a gesture of greatness in 2019 to return to the Government, you were the first to think of the Great Homeland.”
In his message, the mayor stated that he wanted to convey to the Vice President something that she usually hears in the neighborhoods and “that surely fellow mayors should hear something similar,” he added in reference to a phrase about the 2023 presidential elections.
“Cristina, I am not going to talk about politics today, but let me tell you one thing very clearly, things that those of us who embrace territorial politics in our neighborhoods hear: ‘We love Cristina, we support Cristina, we feel enormous love for her ‘, and when one asks why, it has to do with the fact that the people do not forget the four years of Néstor’s government, they do not forget the eight years in which you were President and expanded the rights of the causes of those who most they need,” remarked the communal chief.
And he completed his speech with an allusion to the presidential candidacy of the FdT for next year by pointing out that “the future is with everyone but, fundamentally, for the workers the future is with you”, after which he received a standing ovation from the public.
Furlán asked for a bonus and said that the average salary of the UOM went from “2,300 to 1,000 dollars”
The general secretary of the UOM, Abel Furlán, alluded to the fall in the purchasing power in dollars of the average salary of the metallurgical sector, he wondered “what happened to that difference, who kept it”, when questioning the businessmen who encourage the model of low wages, and asked that the “Peronist government help resolve the distributive bid and generate a bond that has absorption and will recover the real wage.”
In his speech as host of the congress of UOM delegates in the province of Buenos Aires, from the town of Pilar, Furlán remarked that since December 2019 his union has been able to recover “almost 30,000 workers since Alberto Fernández took office” and also valued the Economy Minister Sergio Massa’s performance in stating that he managed to recover “centrality to politics” and prevent “a devaluation” from taking place, of which “we were very close,” said the trade unionist.
Regarding the demand for an extraordinary bonus that is complemented by the parity of each union, Furlán added that this position “we ask the President in private and in public.”
The leader of the UOM and former national deputy of Peronism remarked in his message that the wage issues and living conditions of the members of the unions depend on political projects, and in that sense he quoted a phrase from the historical reference of his union, ” Lorenzo Mariano Miguel”, whom he remembered by his full name, who used to say that “there is no union solution if there is no political solution”.
That definition appeared in white letters on a blue background as the only staging of the act, behind the box, where only the mayor of Pilar, Federico Achával, from the Frente de Todos, sat; the main speaker of the event, Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and Furlán himself.
In another section of his presentation, the general secretary of the metallurgists stated that “politics has a problem of representativeness” and said that his victory over his predecessor, Antonio Caló, also present at the event, took place after the tour of various sections of the guild in search, precisely, of “representativeness”.
At that point, Furlán recalled that when he won the UOM elections, some media outlets linked his result to an internal FdT, which he denied, but in any case he replied that he “feels” a Kirchnerist because he was a Peronist first, and because “Néstor and Cristina were the ones who best interpreted the Peronism of Perón and Evita, the ones who best interpreted social justice, economic independence and political sovereignty.”
As for Together for Change and the management of Mauricio Macri, the trade unionist criticized with very harsh words “the policies of macrismo, with more than 20,000 companies closed, devaluation, tariff increase, pension reform” and recalled that the former president left his Government ” with 54 percent inflation.
“It is not that the inflation that we have today was born with the government that we voted for. We must remember that when comrade Cristina left her government, she left it with 24 percent inflation and with a purchasing power never seen by all of us,” he pointed out. .
And when referring to the inflation of the present, he recognized the head of the Senate, Massa and President Alberto Fernández for “the effort that the minister is making to solve the problem of foreign currency,” in reference to the difficulty in adding dollars to the reservations, to later complete: “I hope God helps him (the Minister of Economy) to solve the problem of inflation that hits and crushes our purchasing power.”
