President of Mexico considers the US vote against the end of the embargo on Cuba a “shame”

OnCubaNews

the president of MexicoAndrés Manuel López Obrador, called this Friday a “shameful” and “retrograde” vote that the United States made against ending the blockade of Cuba in the annual United Nations debate on the US embargo on the island.

“It is a shame. Where is the greatness? Where is the high-flying politics? No, that’s very traditional, retrograde. How in these times are we going to be betting on going backwards, if these are times of change?”, She stated in her morning press conference.

The Mexican president criticized that “the UN votes and the same thing returns, 185 votes to remove the blockade, and two against and they exercise the right of veto”, referring to the United States and Israel.

Lopez Obrador he also questioned the abstention of Brazil and Ukraine.

“In any case, it was very good because there are 185 countries, two against and two abstentions, one Brazil and Ukraine. With all due respect, what do you have to get into? It is really little political sensitivity, ”he said.

The UN once again demands the end of the embargo on Cuba, with the US and Israel against it

This Thursday, the General Assembly of the United Nations demanded the end of the United States embargo against Cuba, which was only opposed by the North American country and Israel.

This appeal, which has been made annually for three decades, received on this occasion 185 votes in favor, two against and two abstentions.

López Obrador has branded the United States embargo on Cuba as “medieval, retrograde and inhuman”, so this Thursday he asked the UN to vote unanimously to end the blockade.
