The Mixed Commission of the National Assembly (AN) that debates the Reform Project of the Social Protection Law for Workers and Cultural Workers approved this Wednesday the final report for the first discussion in the Plenary Chamber.
The proposal, which contains 33 articles, seeks to fully protect the country’s cultists in addition to strengthening the National Fund for the Development and Social Protection of Cultural Workers.
The president of the Standing Commission of Comprehensive Social Development, deputy Pedro Infante, stressed that this law reform is part of the compendium of laws requested by the National Executive on May 1, during the Workers’ Day march, according to a press release.
Natural and legal persons alike
For his part, the president of the Permanent Commission on Culture, deputy Cristóbal Jiménez, presented the final report asserting that the law adapts to the spirit, purpose, reason and dynamics of the new times of the struggle of the revolutionary State, “this law expands the object of the current norm, allocating necessary means for the integral development of cultural workers”, he commented.
He explained that this reform contemplates the inclusion of natural and legal persons in the cultural industry, as well as the public and private rights of those who are directly or indirectly engaged in carrying out any activity related to the promotion, organization and production of cultural goods throughout the world. National territory.
Jimenez detailed that this regulation broadens the definitions and incorporates artists, writers and artisans. Likewise, it extends the rights of cultural workers and the duties of the State to serve the sector.
He added that the law urges the Municipal Power and communal councils to design and execute cultural programs, and highlight indigenous, historical, local, regional and national values. He stressed that it contemplates the fair payment of the considerations for cultural creation, with equitable remuneration.
