Turpial Airlines will start these operations with two Boeing aircraft, but expects to incorporate a third aircraft next December
The commercial director of Turpial Airlines, Alejandro Dugarte Carmona, celebrated the authorization of Caracas-Bogotá flights, which will begin on November 7, and reported that the tickets will cost between 380 and 390 dollars.
“The operations would begin this Monday, November 7, carrying out the Caracas-Bogota-Caracas operation, with a frequency of Monday and Saturday, initially (…) The approximate price is 380, 390 dollars,” he said in an interview with Radio Union.
He indicated that there may be an adjustment in the price in the holiday season due to the increase in demand. They evaluate modifying the price when there are daily frequencies, but their goal is to maintain a cost that is competitive for Venezuelans.
He explained that Monday’s flight will leave Caracas at 5:00 pm, and then leave Bogotá at 6:30 pm, Colombia time.
Turpial Airlines will start these operations with two Boeing aircraft, but expects to incorporate a third aircraft in December, as indicated to the station.
Dugarte hopes that in the future flights are enabled from Valencia, where its base of operations is located to the Colombian capital. He stressed that this decision will depend on the success of operations on the Caracas-Bogotá route.
On other international routes, the company offers flights from Valencia to Panama – Dominican Republic and now Caracas-Bogotá will be added. The airline plans to expand its connections to Medellín and perhaps Cali, depending on the results of the trips to Bogotá.
“All this will depend on whether the authorities validate how Turpial is doing its operations, compliance with the regulations, and then allow us to expand routes,” he assured.
By 2023, Turpial Airlines hopes to include a larger aircraft, to have greater connection capacity.

ALAV awaits activation of more routes
The president of the Venezuelan Airline Association (ALAV), Humberto Figuera, described as positive the resumption of flights between Caracas-Bogotá as of Monday, November 7.
He recalled that in a first phase the two airlines that will begin to operate will be through Venezuela, Turpial (a private line based in Valencia), and through Colombia Satena on its first international route. «I think that perhaps Turpial can already operate on Monday, but Satena we are not very sure”, added in an interview to the Hits circuit Radio Union.
He indicated that according to information from INAC (National Institute of Civil Aeronautics) little by little the rest of the Colombian-Venezuelan airlines that are interested in covering the route will be incorporated.
“The important thing is that the game was unlocked and we are going to have connectivity again, which is not only important for those who go to Colombia, but also for those who go to the South,” he said.
He reiterated the sector’s call to open all Venezuelan skies to any nation, however he indicated that the authorities maintain contact with other countries to expand the routes. “That is a bit paralyzed, Venezuela stayed in the pandemic while all the countries have opened their skies, Venezuela has only opened seven, eight skies with other countries and the rest have not,” highlighted in the interview.
He pointed out that the Colombian-Venezuelan dynamic will be favorable for the sector. “An interesting competition is going to take place, on a route where many companies are going to fight and if they want to attract the public they are going to have to offer a very good service, punctuality and security.”
