The workers grouped in the health assembly, residents and attendees of the hospitals of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), continue with the strike they carry out for an indefinite period of time demanding a meeting with the minister of the area, Fernán Quirós, for an “urgent salary recomposition”, and they will offer a conference where they will announce how the protests will continue.
This Thursday they marched from the Obelisk to the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health on the tenth day of the strike and resolved in an assembly that they will continue the strike indefinitely and today at 1 pm they will offer a press conference in the Plaza de Mayo.
They also decided to continue with the plan of struggle next week and, in this context, on Monday morning they will tour the hospitals and in the afternoon they will hold health posts in Plaza de Mayo, while on Tuesday they will carry out a “great march of health” where all the unions of the sector will come together.
“We will make a strike next Tuesday with all the health unions, together with Municipal Doctors, the Federation of Professionals of the GCABA and the Single Union of Workers and Employees of the CABA (Sutecba),” the resident of the Hospital told this agency. Likewise, Capone highlighted the expansion achieved in the call as “the Provincial Commission of Residents, which would be like the CABA assembly but from the Province of Buenos Aires, called to coordinate the mobilization with us.”
On Thursday, after concentrating on the Obelisk – where there were delays in vehicular traffic – the workers in the sector went to the headquarters of the Ministry of Health of the City of Buenos Aires, located on Bolívar 1, demanding a meeting with the authorities of the Buenos Aires Government.
In a press release, the CABA health workers stated “that the government closed all channels of dialogue with residents and attendees” and recalled that they demand “that they include us in the negotiation since we are actors involved in the conflict” .
The resident and attending doctors claimed for the “failure to comply with the 96-hour deadline” to be summoned to a new meeting with the Buenos Aires government and denounced that the Chief of Staff, Felipe Miguel, Quirós, and the Minister of Economy, Martín Mura, together the guild of the Association of Municipal Doctors (AMM) held a meeting “behind the back” of the assembly of residents and attendees.
“They had told us that the meeting would take place at the Headquarters of the Government. In the early hours of the day we were informed of the change in the meeting place and we were not allowed to enter,” they stated about Thursday’s meeting between government authorities Buenos Aires and AMM.
In this framework, the Federation of Professionals called for a strike and accompanied the mobilization of residents and attendees.
The conflict is in the seventh week of the fight for the claim of salary recomposition, salary and ART for concurrents before the response by the management of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta that they considered “shameful”.
“Today we residents charge $300 an hour and the attendees $0, doing shifts from 24 to 48 hours in a row. After Quirós’s shameful offer, which leaves us at $440 an hour, we continue to fight together with all health sectors for a minimum equal to the family basket, which in CABA does not fall below 250,000 pesos,” they specified.
