The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirax) established the maximum number of officials that can be assigned to each embassy and permanent mission of the Dominican foreign service.
Through Resolution No. 08-2022, the ministry also established the maximum number of alternate ambassadors that may be used in permanent missions to international organizations. The document was issued on October 31, 2021.
According to the measure of the ministry, if the workload of a mission does not require appointing up to the maximum of officials, the missions can work with fewer officials than stipulated.
The country in which the most diplomats they can designate is in Haiti, where the Dominican Republic can have between one and 14 ambassadors.
In Antigua and Barbuda and Armenia, between one and two ambassadors.
In Nicaragua, Paraguay and Honduras, between one and three ambassadors.
In Switzerland, the Holy See, Portugal, Qatar, Ecuador, Israel, Jamaica, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Egypt and the United Emiratesthe country can designate between one and four diplomats.
In Austria, Cuba, Sweden and Venezuela, the Dominican Republic can have up to five diplomats.
In Italy, India, Russia, Turkey, Panama and Costa Rica, up to six officials.
In Colombia, Chile, Canada, Japan, France, Brazil, Germany and the Netherlands, the country can designate up to seven officials.
In China and Mexico, up to eight diplomats.
In the United Kingdom and Spain, up to nine diplomats.

Regarding the maximum number of officials for the Permanent Missions of the Dominican Republic, the resolution establishes that, before the United Nations Organization (UN) in New York, the maximum number of officials is 15.
Before the Organization of American States (OAS) the maximum number of officials is seven.
In the mission of the United Nations Office and other international organizations based in Geneva, Switzerland, the largest number of staff is eight.
Before the World Trade Organization, World Intellectual Property Organization, International Telecommunications Union and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the maximum number of officials is four.
Before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), the maximum is seven.
Before the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the country can only have one designated official.
The representation of the country before the International Civil Aviation Organization can be up to four people.
The Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Organizations based in Rome, Italy, the maximum number of representatives is five. In the Offices of the United Nations and other International Organizations based in Vienna, Austria, the country may not exceed the designation of two officials.
With regard to the alternate ambassadors, before the UN in New York, two officials can be appointed. Before the OAS, one.
To the UN and other organizations based in Geneva, Switzerland, only one official can be appointed.
In the Mission to the UN based in Rome, Italy, only one official.
Before the World Trade Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the International Telecommunications Union and the United Nations Conference on Development, the World Tourism Organization, the UN and other organizations based in Vienna and the International Civil Aviation Organization, no Alternate ambassadors will be appointed.
Before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, only one official can be appointed.
The resolution will be reviewed every three years to examine whether the maximum number of officials is optimal. The ministry granted a period of twelve days for the adequacy of the structure of the missions that make up the Dominican foreign service, from the entry into force of the resolution.
