Next Friday, November 11, the credentials will be delivered to the virtual mayor, Rafael Lopez Aliagaand to the 39 councilors of the Municipality of Lima, elected in the regional and municipal elections on October 2, informed the president of the Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Central Lima, Bacilio Cueva Chauca.
He indicated that the official results of the general calculation of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) are already available, which give as mayoral winner to López Aliagaof the Popular Renovation party, for the 2023-2026 government period.
In that context, he said that they will also receive their credentials 21 councilors from Popular Renewal, 7 from Podemos Peru, 5 from Somos Peru, 3 from the Front of Hope, 2 from Alliance for Progress (APP) and one from Together for Peru.
In an interview with JNE TV, the magistrate explained that in the case of Renovación Popular, what is called “the prize for the majority” is applied as a distribution figure, that is, half plus one of the 39 representatives that make up the municipal council.
“This responds to a governance issue, since the candidate who wins the mayor’s office must have a majority number of aldermen that allow them to manage and govern in favor of their community, and in this case the norm gives them 21 aldermen”accurate.
He recalled that, in accordance with the regulations, the act of proclamation can be challenged up to three days after its publication, “although the substance of the matter is no longer discussed because it is settled”.
The ceremony will take place in the Headquarters of the Lima Bar Association (CAL) and will be chaired by Cueva Chauca, in compliance with the provisions of the Plenary of the National Election Jury (JNE) for the holder of each JEE to deliver the corresponding credentials in the field of their competence.
The magistrate said that the body he presides over was also in charge of the municipal processes in Jesús María and Breña, where the proclamations were already made and on Wednesday the 2nd the corresponding credentials were delivered, in the first district, and on the 8th of the second.
