THE meeting between the vice president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin, and the general rapporteur of the Mixed Budget Commission, senator Marcelo Castro (MDB-PI) was the kick-off for the beginning of meetings of the transition team of the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The objective is to discuss budget adjustments and make room for social programs that have lost resources.
In addition to guaranteeing Aid Brasil in the amount of R$ 600, the new government’s idea is to replace resources from the Popular Pharmacy program, which was cut in the current government’s proposal for the 2023 Budget. .
“At this stage, we deal with the critical points in order to arrive at the necessary numbers for the year 2023. Based on that, the technical team is focused on working on the surveys so that they can present us with the value needed for each area. What is the amount needed for a popular pharmacy? For school lunch? And based on that we will have the definition of a number”, said Wellington Dias (PT), senator elected by Piauí and one of those responsible for discussing the Budget in the transition period.
Dias met, late this afternoon (3), with senators Jean Paul Prates (PT-RN), Paulo Rocha (PT-PA), Acir Gurgacz (PDT-RO), in addition to deputies José Guimarães (PT-RO). CE), Paulo Pimenta (PT-RS) and Enio Verri (PT-PR) in the PT leadership room in the Senate. Dias and the technical team intend to present on Tuesday (8) the amount needed to guarantee the social programs and the R$ 600 in aid next year. The current government provided in the 2023 Annual Budget Law (LOA) project, sent to Congress, an aid worth R$ 405.
“Tuesday is a very important date for us to have a solution on the understanding of the text of the constitutional amendment and also the presentation of the values, to give time to vote in both Houses, both the budget law with the amendments and also for guarantee the approval of the constitutional amendment”, said the senator-elect and member of the transition team.
According to Dias, the transition team works with the presentation of an amendment to the Constitution, which is being called an emergency transition PEC, to guarantee the R$ 600. The rest of the budget adjustments will be made within the LOA project.
