Government Violence, Police of Shame

This homeland of love that hurts...

And finally, what had been warned happened: The Government sent the Police to defend a group of MAS allies who were making a fence in La Guardia and brutally repressed residents who tried to lift it; He did it with tear gas and beatings. It was a shameful spectacle where on one side were the authors of the fence in alliance with the armed police officers, and on the other, citizens who defended themselves as best they could.

Where in the world, other than in a dictatorship, have the Police been seen to act in complicity with one of the opposing groups? The Police is a public force, of the Bolivian State, which has been created to defend citizens, and not a force of the Movement for Socialism or the government of Luis Arce or any other authority.

On Tuesday they became part of the national shame, although before they had been showing their degeneration and decadence every time they accompanied and even transported government party shock groups whom they protected while they committed vandalism in the streets of Santa Cruz.

The brutality of the shock groups paid for by the Luis Arce government led, among other things, to an unacceptable beating of a journalist who was about to be killed in front of police officers who did not lift a finger to defend someone who was sufficiently identified. as a press worker who only fulfilled his function of informing.

In the images it was also seen how the Police fired tear gas at close range, this is from the front and a few meters from people who were not in any attitude of confrontation.

However, despite all the evidence that clearly showed what happened in La GuarToday, the Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, accused people related to the Interinstitutional Committee of allegedly attacking six police patrols, and admitted with a dose of cynicism that the Police accompanied the shock group. Del Castillo said that the Police accompanies the mobilized groups, whether from one side or another, which is untrue because the uniformed men were only on the side of those related to the Government.

The minister did not know how to answer why the Police fired from the front and only replied that the institution acts in compliance with its regulations. Well, it wasn’t like that, trying to cover the sun with a finger doesn’t work.

By the way, something is happening to the Minister of Government, who in his appearance before the journalists on Tuesday night was seen in a very strange attitude, he was a completely disturbed person, an aggressive man who evaded questions from the press and spoke to the same time as the press workers, almost in a debate that no one had proposed.

Del Castillo spoke of the census, with the political gaze that does not correspond to him; he said that technically it is not possible to do the census in 2023, and the next day he was disavowed by the Ministry of the Presidency. In any country with a real democracy, the paper was to resign from office for a matter of personal dignity.

The minister was so out of his mind that he entered into childish contradictions by declaring that the census was a technical matter that he did not understand. If so, what was he doing speculating so irresponsibly on the matter? Unfortunate performance of a minister who lost control that night and stripped himself of his high office to look like a member of the shock groups of his party.
