Punta del Este is preparing for the summer season, and hotels take advantage of the spring months to launch the latest openings with the aim of attracting more customers to their establishments. The Grand Hotel —owned by Collection Grand Hotel Lux, which owns three hotels in the region— has already announced two launches that will take place in December with an eye on the 2023 summer season.
After having completed the construction of the first stage of the work: 118-room hotel worth approximately US$42 millionthe company in charge of the grand hotel returns to bet on the business with a second stage of development with a projected investment of US$ 22 million. Thus, the total development of the establishment —also counting the estimate of cost overruns in the second stage— would be US$66 million.
There are two openings in this second stage: the multifunctional space, The Grand Center and the bar, Huma Rooftop Bar & Lounge.
As explained from the company, The Grand Center will be an ideal space to hold events, both corporate and social. And also for cultural activities such as musical shows, plays and even art shows.
The new space provides 650 m2, for customers to use as they wish. Broadly speaking, The Grand Center will have a large foyer for receptions, a double-height main hall with top-level technological equipment and a terrace with ocean views.
In addition —and promoting the commitment to Punta del Este— The Grand Hotel will be inaugurating on the roof, the only high-rise bar on the eastern coast: Huma Rooftop Bar & Lounge. This will feature signature cocktails, international cuisine and a DJ. It will be the only rooftop in the city with a panoramic view of Brava beach, and it will have capacity for 120 people.
As reported by the company, for the development of the brand they worked with the leading study in the development of the best restaurants and bars in the world: Pure Gray from New York.
“Without losing our identity, we continue to improve and provide unique experiences and excellent service to our guests, clients and the entire community,” said hotel manager Gabriel Guerra.
Regarding the personnel that will provide services at the hotel, they indicated that currently —in the low season of the first stage— 110 direct employees were employed by The Grand Hotel. In high season there were 260, and with the expansion a total sum of 320 people is estimated to be employed between direct employees, related companies and suppliers.
