Brazilian authorities extradited to Uruguay a high school teacher who was convicted of sexually abusing a student in Riveradepartment in which he worked.
The professor had been a fugitive since February 2021, when he crossed the border after breaking the electronic anklet that was imposed on him. In July of this year, the Brazilian authorities arrested him and have now extradited him.
In the trial that began in 2019, he was sentenced in a first instance for the crime of sexual abuse. However, the person remained on probation after his defense appealed and the Justice resolved this measure.
Subsequently, another complaint was filed against her, this time one for gender-based violence filed by her ex-partner. For this reason, his total house arrest was ordered, as well as the imposition of an electronic anklet,
According to the professor’s lawyer, quoted by Telemundo, the man was “desperate” for his arrest. Likewise, he said that he fled “without consulting anyone” after “receiving threats” and seeing “that no action was taken on the matter.”
The man was arrested in the state of St. Catarina and now they deported him so that he is available to the Rivera Justice. This instance ordered the imprisonment of the subject for a period of 120 days while the Court of Appeals decides on the investigation of sexual abuse.
In turn, in the next few days his hearing will be presented for the crime of destruction of the anklet.
