The Ministry of Health reported this Sunday 76 new deaths due to the Covid-19, so the death toll has risen to 301,410 deaths since the pandemic arrived in the country at the end of February 2020.
In the daily technical report on the progress of the pandemic, it is detailed that the accumulated number of coronavirus cases in Mexico amounted to 4 million 368,314 infections, after 19,132 new infections were registered in the last 24 hours.
It should be remembered that on weekends, lower figures are usually shown than those registered on business days, because health centers take a little longer to deliver their reports of new cases and deaths.
During the week from Monday, January 10 to Sunday, January 16, 242,926 new Covid-19 infections and 1,076 new deaths were registered in the country.
Health authorities estimate that there are 306,389 active cases in the country, that is, people who have presented Covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days.
The states with the highest rate of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants are:
- Baja California Sur
- Mexico City
- San Luis Potosi
- Colima
- Tabasco
- Zacatecas
- Nayarit
- Coahuila
- Quintana Roo
- Yucatan
Regarding hospital capacity, the occupancy of general beds stands at 30%, one percentage point more than what was reported yesterday; while the occupancy of beds with a ventilator for the care of seriously ill patients with Covid-19 remains at 17 percent.
Vaccination against Covid-19 in Mexico
At the cutoff of Saturday, January 15, the federal government highlighted that 462,091 vaccines against Covid-19 were applied, to register a total of 155,882,479 doses supplied nationwide since the vaccination plan against the coronavirus began, on December 24 of 2020.
Of the 82 million 898,265 people immunized, 75 million 617,241 have the first complete scheme of one or two doses depending on the type of biological. While,
7 million 281,024 recently received the first dose.
From Tuesday, January 18 to Wednesday, January 26, the Government of Mexico City will apply the reinforcement of the Covid-19 vaccine to people between 50 and 59 years of age in the 16 municipalities.
