Five representatives of Cuba were successful this Wednesday during the first day of the World Cup of boxingwith a stage in the city of Cologne, in Germany.
In accordance with statements offered to the sports portal Hit by coach Robinson Pol, the Cubans completed the process “without too many problems.”
On the day, the world champion Yoenlis Hernández and the young Rafael Joubert advanced to the medalists in the 75 and 60 kilogram divisions, respectively. Joubert received the favorable verdict of the three judges in his lawsuit with Ramzik Sargsyan –fight under the flag of the European confederation–, while Yoenlis dispatched the Austrian Marcel Meinl by the same route.

The three-time world champion Lázaro Álvarez (63.5 kilograms) also swept the local Mert Caliskan, while the double Olympic titleholder Roniel Iglesias (71 kg) did the same with the Danish Sebastian Terteyan
The debut of the Cuban boxers at the event was completed by Carlos Castillo (+92 kg), who won a unanimous verdict against the Kazakh Sabyrgali Amanat.
This Thursday Roniel, Lázaro and Castillo will return to the arena, and Alejandro Claro (51 kg), Saidel Horta (57 kg), Albert Hernández (80 kg) and Freddy Pérez (92 kg) will debut, all for bronzed metals, adds the publication .
85 boxers from 13 countries signed up for this event, and according to the published calendar, the finals will be held next Sunday.
