The German justice sentenced this Wednesday the German soccer player Jérôme Boateng, who currently plays for the French Lyonto a fine of 1.2 million euros (1.18 million dollars) for having beaten and injured his ex-partner and mother of his two children.
The Munich court, which was studying the appeal of the case, considered that the Former German international, who was part of the world champion squad in 2014, was guilty of beatings, injuries and insults against this woman.
Boateng thus sees the sentence he had received in the first instance be slightly reduced. So, in September 2021, he had been sentenced to a fine of 1.8 million euros ($1.77 million).
Jérôme Boateng rejected the accusations against him throughout the appeal process.
According to his ex-partner, the soccer player, who is 34 years old today, hit him during a vacation in the Caribbean in 2018, after Germany’s failure in the group stage of the World Cup in Russia.
He would have first thrown various objects at him, before sticking a thumb in his eye, biting him and throwing him to the ground holding him by the hair.
A friend of her ex-partner gave testimony during the appeal process in Munich to confirm the violent acts. He also complained about the German player’s security service, whom he accused of having filmed him in court to try to intimidate him, something that the defense lawyers denied.
