Despite the fact that in August the ticket rate for trains and buses increased by 40%, the Government announced that it is preparing a new increase starting next month, which will impact the pockets of citizens.
Since the executive power they announced that an increase is estimated with “an approximate average of 40%”; that is to say that the Government forecasts a second 40% increase in less than four months.
The measure of Government will impact the ticket fare on trains and buses in the “metropolitan transport area and everything that is federal transport, which is what the national State regulates,” Transport Minister Alexis Guerrera confirmed on Wednesday.
“We are analyzing what that percentage of increase is going to be, but approximately we can make an approximate average of 40 percent”said the minister, who also explained that the increase “is not going to be exactly the same for all railway lines or for all modalities.”
On the other hand, the official clarified that the measure “has nothing to do with the negotiation of the UTA (Automotive Tram Union) in the Ministry of Labor because internal transport, which is the discussion at this time, is not the jurisdiction of the national government. , beyond the fact that the provinces always put pressure on national subsidies”.
And he explained: “It is the jurisdiction of the provincial and municipal governments to establish the rates, the routes, the stops, and what the national government does is a subsidy mechanism.”
Although the value of the increase has not been confirmed, if it is 40%, the minimum ticket will cost $35.30; However, according to data from the transport sector, the cheapest ticket should cost $154 without the subsidies of the Executive power.
