The Budget 2023 It will begin to be debated in the Senate this Wednesday before the Budget and Treasury Commission, after last Wednesday it achieved half sanction in the Chamber of Deputies.
After having 180 votes in favor, 22 against and 49 abstentions in the Lower House, the Government anticipates that the project be approved in an “express” session, since it is expected to discuss the Budget 2023 between Wednesday and Thursday, in order to issue an opinion that same day.
In this sense, the Budget and Treasury Commission, chaired by Ricardo Guerra, from the Front of All, will receive from 4:00 pm in the Blue Room Gabriel Rubinstein, Secretary of Economic Programming; Raúl Rigo, Secretary of the Treasury; and Eduardo Setti, Secretary of Finance; who will make the formal presentation of the Budget 2023.
Meanwhile, from the opposition they demand the presence of Sergio Massawhich is why they even sent a letter to the president of the Senate, Cristina Kirchner, asking her to summon the Minister of Economy and present the project.
”We expressly request that tomorrow -for today- the Minister of Economy of the Nation, Sergio Massa, attend, considering that democratic practice requires a strong commitment to parliamentary deliberation and public deliberation and, in that framework, the importance of this Honorable Chamber as a source of representation for the provinces cannot be ignored,” the statement said.
In this context, the votes once again seem to be divided, because while the ruling party hopes to give the debate even without the presence of Sergio Massa, from Together for Change they anticipated that they would not sign the opinion.
The intention of the Front of All is that the project be approved as it was after achieving half sanction in Deputies, since if the text undergoes any change it will have to be reviewed again in the Lower House, and the period of ordinary sessions is almost over, so there would be no time to fix modifications to the proposal.
How would the vote be?
The interbloc of the Frente de Todos has 35 senators of its own, to which are added three other legislators from Together We Are Río Negro, from the Front Renovador de la Concordia and from Hay Futuro Argentina, who are its allieswith which the quorum would be guaranteed.
However, on the opposition side, the Together for Change bloc, made up of 33 members, will define this week what position it will adopt in the vote. Meanwhile, some representatives of radicalism anticipated that they will not give their approval to the project.
