In the list of cities are the most populated cities in the country: Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta, Ambato, Santo Domingo, among others.
The Emergency Operations Committee (COE) indicated that there are face-to-face classes suspended in 193 cantons in fiscal, private and fiscomisional establishments.
This Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., a press conference began in which the provisions were explained. According to the resolution of the COE, an epidemiological analysis was carried out with the number of the last infections by COVID-19.
Therefore, decisions were made in accordance with a traffic light that will restrict certain activities. So far, only two cantons (both from the Amazon) are green, 26 are yellow, and 193 are red. On Friday, January 21, there will be a new assessment to find out if the cantons change alert.

Class attendance will be in person with security measures; that is, reduced capacity, distance of 1.5 meters.

It is authorized face-to-face classes in the 26 cantons as long as the students have authorization from their families and, in addition, have completed the vaccination schedule.
The other students will have distance education. The measure is for all educational levels, except initial (under 5 years). The Ministry of Health requested that attendance be suspended this week.

During this week face-to-face classes are suspended and only the distance education modality is established. This resolution will be reviewed on Friday.
The Ministry of Health indicated that this week is expected to have “the highest number of infections.” The Vice Minister of Health added that they hope that with the proposed measures “pressure and hospital congestion can be avoided.” (NEWS IN DEVELOPMENT)
