The Government of Belize activated its maximum alert (red) before the passage of the still tropical storm Lisa, which is expected to intensify to a category 1 hurricane in the next few hours.
The prime minister and director of the Belize National Emergency Management Organization, Johnny Briceño, explained that The entity issued a hurricane warning for the entire coast of the country.

This warning means that Tropical Storm Lisa has the potential to threaten the country. and that it will make landfall in the next 24 hours.
Given this, the Government raised two red flags with black dots in the center as a sign of the emergency.
“Citizens are warned to activate their emergency plans and voluntarily locate themselves in a safe place,” said Briceño.
Briceño also reported that before the arrival of the tropical system, the Philip Goldson International Airport will be closed from tonight.

Likewise, the ports will close from this Wednesday at 07:00 local time (11:00 GMT) and bus transportation will cease operations at 10:00 local time (14:00 GMT).
The schools, in turn, tThey will also be closed, except those that will be used as shelter. These shelters were opened at 6:00 p.m. local time (22:00 GMT) on Tuesday.
For its part, The Government of Guatemala also declared a red alert for the department of Islas de la Bahía, that make up Roatán, Utila and Guanaja, where rainfall of up to 200 millimeters will be recorded, while on the mainland it would range between 100 and 150 millimeters that Lisa would leave.

Tropical Storm Lisa is about 330 miles east of Belize City.
According to the forecast, the center of Lisa will be near the Bay Islands of Honduras early on Wednesday, and moves to Belize in the evening and southeast of Mexico on Thursday.
