The clashes do not stop the tension rises again at times in the municipality of La Guardia. After 10:00 p.m. this Tuesday, the police again repressed the residents of the area who tried to approach the fence installed at kilometer 19 of the double lane, by peasants related to the Movement for Socialism (MAS).
According to local residents, a strong police contingent arrived after the first confrontation to protect those who reinstalled the fence in the southern zone and they began to fire tear gas at the people who were protesting, launching firecrackers, demanding that the road be left open so that the trucks with fuel and food can reach the capital of Santa Cruz.
In this new confrontation, another police patrol was damaged and three new people were arrested, according to the first reports. Hours earlier, the Government Minister, Eduardo Del Castillo, reported that nine people had been captured during the first clashes in La Guardia.
The new detainees, like the others, were taken to police cells of the Provincial Command of the Guard, where more police reinforcements arrived to guard this facility, to prevent damage to State assets.
These new clashes that started after 22:00 lasted a little over an hour. However, there is still a group of neighbors in the area who are trying to regroup and The Police are entrenched in the peasants’ fence of the MAS, preventing the road from being cleared.
For his part, the vice president of the Civic Committee for Santa Cruz, Stello Cochamanidis, questioned the marches related to the government party and blamed them for the fences in the department of Santa Cruz that has generated the shortage of fuel and food.
“If they want to help (the Government) in something, they should remove the fences they are making, because it is masista fences that prevent food from being sent out of the department and they are the ones who play with the lives of citizens. Where is the (departmental) prosecutor Róger Mariaca? do your job and act ex officio, as you do against the civic and towards those who are against the MAS ”, he indicated.
While a group of parliamentarians from the Cree caucus set up a vigil outside the Santa Cruz Departmental Command, located on the city’s second ring road, to ask for an end to “police repression” and the release of those arrested, among they are members of the Unión Juvenil Cruceñista.
