The population of Santa Cruz, much less than in other years, began to go to the more than 60 cemeteries of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (both official and illegal). The General Cemetery, La Cuchilla and the North Cemetery were some of the cemeteries that saw the first visitors arrive as best they could.

In one of the main cemeteries, the influx was low, but people like Miguel Toledo arrived despite the strong winds. “I went ahead 10 days before to clean, paint and pay taxes. As long as you pay, the masons have everything: ceramics, cement, cutter,” said Mr. Toledo, who came walking from the old Barrio Lindo neighborhood to remember his mother, father and brothers.

Tsuko Inoue, a citizen of Japanese origin, arrived from the municipal zoo area, and it took her 30 minutes by bike, due to the winds, she said. She said that she accompanies the traditions of this country, and she came to remember her grandparents, her father, and her brother, she said that in Japan they have a similar holiday in August.

In the cemetery of La Cuchilla, merchants set up a large space for mechanical games attractions for boys and girls. It also had a good influx of people who began to arrive to clean the graves of their loved ones.

Visitors who wanted to get to the North Cemetery, located on Av. Alemán, between the 4th and 5th ring, had many complications to get there, due to the various blocking points in the north area.
