Page Seven / La Paz
It was born in the 1980s as an ice cream parlor on Villazón Avenue, then it expanded to other cities to offer gastronomy, pastry and recently it has just opened its new premises, which rises on five floors in El Prado, in the heart of La Paz. with a significant investment.
This is Dumbo, one of the most important businesses in the country and a tradition in the seat of Government, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz that continues to grow.
The national manager of Dumbo, Enrique López Escobar, invited Página Siete to take a tour of the new building, which required an investment of 2.5 million dollars -just the infrastructure- and which opened its doors in December.
The place has capacity for more than 300 people comfortably located and the decision of this expansion was born to meet the demand of the La Paz public, who are looking for new attractions and recreation spaces.
At the entrance, there is a terrace that overlooks the street and where people can enjoy a juice, a beer, serve themselves a plate or a sandwich while enjoying the outdoors.
Then there is the first floor, where families and friends can sit down, order lunch or dinner and listen to the melodies that come from the piano in a space decorated with a five-meter work of art.
This is a more personal area for families or couples looking to have a good time, perhaps more romantic.
Dumbo will offer live musical shows with groups and also Mexican music, salsas and bachatas in this new venue.
The second floor has similar characteristics where families can taste some of the preparations, comfortably, in a large space.
The third, fourth and fifth floors were designed for children and it is where there are several attractions and games designed for the little ones, with spaces for children up to 12 years old.
Birthdays can be organized in these spaces and, while the little ones play, the parents can sit down to talk or eat and have a drink.
They do not need to worry about the children, as there are babysitters who are taking care of them permanently while they have fun safely.
There are mazes that go down from the fifth floor to the fourth and another that connects to the third.
The building has a panoramic elevator, where you go up with an excellent view.
Dumbo offers a variety of dishes where pique macho, ice cream, pastries, desserts stand out. Cakes that are in great demand are also available, since on a weekend 60 to 80 cakes are demanded per day.
López said that Dumbo was born as an artisanal ice cream shop on August 5, 1985 on Villazón Avenue and, starting in 1988, with the vision of its owner, Martha Zabala de Zerda, it ventured into pastry and gastronomy and expanded to the Prado. Later, stores were opened in the South and El Alto. Also in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba, where there are currently branches in different areas.
Dumbo generates jobs for some 300 people and the new building is a commitment to reactivation with innovation and quality service.
