the cardinal Peter Barrett reiterated his criticism of the President of the Republic, peter castleaffirming that he is not taking into account the consensus that exists in the National Agreement.
In dialogue with Canal N, the priest pointed out that, in his opinion, the underlying root lies there and that the problem not only encompasses society, but also the three powers of the Peruvian State.
“I think that here is the root of the matter because, for example, in the National Agreement there are consensuses that have been worked on, that President Pedro Castillo signed and is not taking into account. In addition, he swore on May 17, 2021, touching the national flag to faithfully comply with all that citizen proclamation “he expressed.

“The problem is with society, with the three political powers of the State. The Executive that does not respond to these expectations; the Legislature that is with ideological compromises, interests that do not produce and the people have expressed their opinion regarding Congress; and the Judiciary, which certainly worries us a great deal because if the justice administrators are also at odds with each other, what can we expect in that administration of justice for so many brothers and sisters who are in urgent need of these decisions?he added.
Barreto also referred to the criticism of Congressman Guido Bellido (Free Peru), who said that “it is out of focus” for asking for the resignation of Castillo Terrones and the advancement of general elections.
In that sense, Barreto indicated that politics seeks the common good and everything that affects people also affects the Church, for which he remarked that Bellido Ugarte is unaware of his mission.
“Congressman Bellido has all the freedom to say, but tell him that he does not know the mission of the Church. Politics is to seek the common good, as stated by Pope Francis and the social magisterium of the Church, and everything that affects people also affects the Church and points the way to the dignity of people, of the experience among all, that fraternity and social friendship that we must have is an essential part of the evangelizing mission of the Church. This is the command of Jesus”he underlined.
