According to the Ministry of Health, more than 11 thousand new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the country on Saturday. Quito continues as the most affected city.
Ecuador registered on Saturday (January 15, 2022) 11,090 new cases of contagion of COVID-19 and accumulated 614,032 positives during the pandemic, as reported by the Ministry of Public Health in its latest daily epidemiological report.
The record about deaths confirmed by COVID-19 It rose to 24,308 during the pandemic, 10 more than the report on Friday (January 14), to which are added 9,911 “probable” deaths, for a total of 34,219 deaths.
The province of Pichincha accumulates the largest amount of infections with 218,784 positives (3,255 more than Friday’s record), followed by Guayas with 100,777 (3,535 additional).
Then appear the provinces of Manabí (41,419), Azuay (31,267), El Oro (30,477), Loja (20,695), Imbabura (20,118), Tungurahua (17,992), Los Ríos (15,274), Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (13,743) and Cotopaxi (13,743).
Regarding the situation in the cantons, the report states that Quito is the Ecuadorian city most affected by the COVID-19 with 202,496 infections during the pandemic (3,106 more than on Friday), followed by Guayaquil with 73,070 (2,918 additional).
Then come cities like Cuenca (23,959), Machala (15,149), Loja (13,830), Ambato (13,462), Portoviejo (13,405), Santo Domingo (12,056) and Ibarra (10,688), according to the official report.
The report on the vaccination plan against COVID-19 in Ecuador, with a cutoff date of January 14, specifies that 28,894,911 doses have been applied, of which 13,969,715 correspond to first doses, 13,060,363 to second doses and 1,864,833 reinforcement doses.
Of the total of vaccines applied, 15,639,813 come from the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, 8,350,271 from the American Pfizer and 4,370,282 from the British AstraZeneca.
Also, 515,704 of the vaccines inoculated correspond to the Chinese CanSino, of a single application and that is also applied as reinforcement. EFE
