The Ministry of Justice and Public Security released today (31) the final balance of the second phase of Operation Elections 2022, launched to curb electoral crimes. Between Friday (28) and 9 am this Monday, public security agencies across the country seized around R$ 1.6 million in cash, carried out 205 arrests and recorded 68 occurrences involving the suspected purchase of votes and electoral corruption.
In total, 1,166 occurrences related to some form of electoral crime were recorded. Of these, the most common were violations or attempted violations of voting secrecy (265 cases), followed by exits (154) and disobedience to electoral legislation (124).
Coordinated by the Secretariat of Integrated Operations (Seopi), of the MJSP, the operation is carried out in partnership with the public security agencies of the 26 states, plus the Federal District, and has the participation of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Federal Police ( PF), Federal Highway Police (PRF), Ministry of Defense, Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) and National Secretariat for Civil Defense and Protection (Sedec).
