Financed vehicle sales rose 6.8% in 2021

Financed vehicle sales in 2021 grew by 6.8% compared to the previous year, according to data from B3, the São Paulo stock exchange. Financed vehicle sales rose 6.8% in 2021

In total, there were 5.9 million units, including motorcycles, light and heavy vehicles, as well as new and used. There were 375,000 more units traded in last year.

The segment of heavy vehicles and motorcycles were the highlights of 2021, with increases of 18% and 17.6%, respectively. In the light vehicle sector, there was a growth of 4% compared to the units financed in 2020.

Financing for used vehicles corresponds to 70% of the total, an increase of 10.7% compared to 2020. Light vehicles with longer use were in greater demand.

Units with 9 to 12 years old had an increase of 31.5%. Vehicles over 12 years old, in turn, had an increase of 71.4% in sales on credit.

New vehicles, on the other hand, had a drop of 1.4% in total installment sales. Highlighting the light vehicles category, which registered a 15% drop in the year.

B3 operates the National System of Encumbrances (SNG), which gathers the register of financial restrictions of vehicles given as collateral in credit operations in Brazil.
