Labor Minister and leader of the Independent Party, Paul Mierescriticized the tweet of the director of the National Audiovisual Communication Service (Secan) and party colleague Gerardo Sotelo about the elections in Brazil, which he described as “a major mistake.”
“It was an important mistake because of the function it fulfills. I spoke with him. He is a baton”said the minister in an interview with Telemundo (Channel 12).
After the confirmation of the victory of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva over current president Jair Bolsonaro, Sotelo posted on Twitter: “And so, with the triumph of the thief over the facho, another election took place in this long-suffering Latin America. Mamita.”
Minutes later, the director of Secan published another tweet after the repercussions on the social network: “Literality and bad faith destroy irony. the qualifiers they are not mine. They are the ones they exchanged themselves during the campaign! They were not insults but criticism of a form of politics that does not represent me. If anyone misunderstood this, please accept my apologies.”
Days before the ballot was held in Brazil, Mieres admitted that he preferred Lula to win the election in the neighboring country. “Lula is better than Bolsonaro on the issue of democracy”, Mieres told 970 Noticias.
