(EFE).- Entrepreneurs from Venezuela seek to export their products to Cuba, where they will participate in the 38th edition of the Havana International Fair (Fihav) between November 14 and 18, the Foreign Trade Bank (Bancoex) reported this Sunday. ) Venezuelan.
During a meeting between businessmen from both countries, held in the Venezuelan state of Nueva Esparta, Bancoex’s Vice President of Financial Management, Juan Campos, assured that FIHAV will represent “a platform” for the Venezuelan export sector to do business.
According to a press release from the institution, Campos pointed out that, through the fair, the aim is to “establish alliances that encourage commercial exchange between Venezuela and Cuba.”

“We, from Nueva Esparta, want to express to our Cuban peers that they can count on our capabilities and that we are willing to do business from the private sector, always ensuring that the Venezuelan and Cuban states facilitate any type of procedure that allows negotiations to be carried out more productive and fluid,” he said.
For his part, the representative of the Cuban company Evexcon Alfonso Larreo Barroso argued that it is “important that these meetings multiply” to “develop this exchange in a fluid manner.”
Cuba and Venezuela have been close political and economic allies since the late President Hugo Chávez came to power in 1999.
Starting in 2000, Venezuela became the main supplier of crude oil to the Caribbean island through an agreement that grants preferential prices in exchange for medical and educational services, and which was signed by Chávez and former Cuban president Fidel Castro as day like today 22 years ago.
As for the 38th Fihav edition, as reported by the official press, some 570 companies will participate, 400 of them foreign, after a two-year break due to the covid-19 pandemic. The figure contrasts with that of the previous edition, in 2019, which was attended by more than 4,000 participants from some 55 countries, of which Spain was the most represented, with 110 companies.
At the meeting there will be a representation of the main entities of goods and services in the country, cooperatives and micro, small and medium enterprises and 30 delegations from Chambers of Commerce, according to the same sources.
