Minister Huerta on the capture of Juan Silva: "It depends on the Special Team"

The Minister of the Interior, Willy Huertapointed out that the capture of the former Minister of Transport and Communications, John Silvacurrently a fugitive from justice, is something that depends on the special team of the Prosecutor’s Office that investigates high-ranking officials and former authorities.

In a dialogue with TV Peru, the minister said that although he did not request information on the progress in the search for Silva Villegas, the National Police continues with the work to locate him.

“The National Police continues with the search, location and capture of those people requested by justice. What’s more, we are supporting the work that this special team has been doing.” assured.

“The capture (of Juan Silva) depends on the special team (of the Public Ministry), since they have been entrusted to it, they have organized themselves, and it is constituted for this. They have to do the work”, said the minister.

“The special team reports directly to the Public Ministry. We do not ask them to account for it because it can be taken in another way, but I know that they work with the Prosecutor’s Office directly and constantly. What we do is support them in all their management so that they can achieve their goal”, narrowed down

The Silva Villegas case

Silva Villegas is part of the rewards program of the Ministry of the Interior and is being investigated by the Public Ministry for alleged cases of corruption.

According to the thesis of the special team against corruption in power, Juan Silva was appointed Minister of Transport in order to control contracts in the sector, especially in Provías.

The latter, in turn, would have the intermediary of the businessman Zamir Villaverde so that he could contact the companies and recommend officials to be in charge of the tenders.
