The president of the Republic, Louis Abinader, congratulated this Sunday night to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvawho won the presidential elections of his country in a second round held this day by defeating the president of that nation Jair Bolsonaro.
In a message posted on his Twitter account, the Dominican president promised to strengthen bilateral relations with Brazil.
“On behalf of the Dominican Government, I extend warm congratulations to the president-elect of Brazil, @LulaOficial, for his victory. We will strengthen our bilateral relations and deepen our ties to face regional challenges with greater unity,” said President Abinader.
Lula da Silva ruled Brazil for two years between 2003-2011. He won the Brazilian elections with 50.90% of the Brazilian votes. He will assume power again on January 1, 2023.
The politicianwho governed the country between 2003 and 2010 and, starting next January, will assume a third term and will have as vice president an old adversary, the former governor of Sao Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin, a liberal with a conservative profile.
