Jorge Valero appointed Ambassador of Venezuela to the European Union

The diplomat Jorge Valero, was appointed as chief ambassador of the Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the European Union (EU), based in Brussels, according to information from the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs.

Valero has a degree in History from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), he comes from representing Venezuela before the entities of the United Nations Organization (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland, a position he held until 2020.

In addition, he was previously ambassador permanent representative to the UN, New York, between 2008 and 2013. He was also a representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).

The Venezuelan diplomat represented the country before the Republic of Korea from 1995 to 1998. He has higher education in Latin American Studies at University College of the University of London, England.

Foreign Minister Carlos Faría has expressed Venezuela’s willingness to help solve the energy crisis in Europe, an approach made by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, previously.

Faría also pointed out, regarding the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the EU, that Venezuela is also willing to cooperate with fair trade, under equal conditions and benefits.

In this regard, he pointed out: “we only demand the release of our assets in European banks and the end of the economic and financial blockade.”
