MADRID, Spain.- The border troops of the island’s regime sank a boat that was transporting Cubans to the United States. As a result, five people have died so far: a man, three women and a four-year-old girl.

Journalist Mario J. Pentonwho spoke with relatives of the deceased and people close to the survivors, reported that the boat of the Cuban migrants at no time resisted the border guards, who attacked them.

People in Bahía Honda, Artemisa Province, where the deceased came from, are “in shock,” added the reporter.

The Cuban dictatorship, giving its version of the incident, blamed the United States government.

“A new event with a fatal outcome occurs as a consequence of the hostile and cruel policy of the United States government against Cuba, which tolerates and encourages illegal departures from Cuba by allowing irregular migrants to remain in its territory,” says the statement. official note.

The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) also indicates: “A speedboat from the United States, which violated the territorial sea of Cuba in a human trafficking operation, sank north of Bahía Honda, Artemisa, when it collided with a unit of surface of Border Guard Troops during their identification”.

“By keeping the Cuban Adjustment Law in force, illegal departures are stimulated, which in turn is taken advantage of by unscrupulous elements based in that country, who profit without noticing the risk that these activities represent,” he adds.

The regime confirmed the death of five people, who were among the “23 people rescued.”

As Mario J. Pentón denounced, “sadly, what we have suffered so many times as a nation is being repeated once again.”

In the early hours of July 13, 1994, the Cuban authorities sank the tug “March 13” with 72 people on board who were trying to leave the Island. Of these people, 41 lost their lives, including eleven children.

According to survivor testimonies, some of the children fell into the sea before the boat sank, ripped from their mothers’ arms by the jets of pressurized water, shot from the pursuing ships, with which they swept the deck of the tugboat.

The authorities did not even attempt to rescue the corpses from the bottom of the sea.

The fact was presented, in the official version, which took a week, as an accident caused by the irresponsibility of those who tried to take the ship. Those directly responsible for that crime were never brought to trial and punished.
