“The Federal Council of FANCAP communicated measures that prevent the supply of commercial flights that operate in Carrasco and Laguna del Sauce”, reads the entity’s statement in which it adds that “the decision to go on to rent the operator of the International Airport “C /C Carlos Curbelo”, Laguna del Sauce, the aviation fuel storage and supply facilities and whose “objective is to reduce historical losses in that operation”, “was communicated in August of last year and that this year, days before being implemented, was postponed as a sign of goodwill“.
“FANCAP chose the path of extreme measures to prevent the execution of a company decision“, said the entity and added that the proposal made by the union for the partial reorganization “maintains an economic loss for ANCAP and bases its financing on increasing the price of fuel” for which it is “inconvenient.”
From the Laguna del Sauce Airport they confirmed to El Observador that there will be no supply for private aviation, either from small planes or private jets until the strike ends. Regarding commercial aviation, the general manager of the airport, Alejandro Rivero, pointed out that the fuel is “guaranteed” only until next Monday. Laguna del Sauce has three commercial flights scheduled for Sunday and another for the following day.
Fancap demands that the decision be suspended and the issue be reviewed in a tripartite negotiation environment in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
From Fancap they understand that the economic losses at the Laguna del Sauce plant are due to poor management by the state company that can be reversed.
“Our union defends that through collective bargaining agreements can be reached that allow for better management where savings are materialized as in previous instances, generating the conditions for the different productive areas to continue in Ancap’s hands. (…) The The task that we understand this Board of Directors has set for itself is to hand over the profits to private capital to the detriment of the people’s sovereignty,” says the Fancap statement.
