Labor Minister Kelly Olmos confirmed that the Government does not rule out that a bonus for private workers be paid at the end of the year, as has been speculated in recent weeks.
The measure of Executive power would seek to improve the purchasing power of workers and, thus, counteract the effects of inflation, since one of the priorities of the Government is that wages are above the price index.
“It is something that is on the negotiating table and I don’t see why not, it is already one of the instruments that we have as an alternative”assured the minister in an interview with the online radio FutuRöck, when asked about the possibility that the Government pay the bonus.
The official also explained that “there is no talk of a fixed sum, but of a year-end bonus”; However, the minister is concerned that the bonus does not reach those who need it most.
In this sense, the ideal would be that “it can also reach the informal sectors”, since, “fortunately, the sectors that are in the parity sector have better conditions to defend themselves.”
In this regard, he stressed that “policies are designed to be able to promote this transition between this type of employment and work with rights, which is the aspiration that we all have.”
The minister also maintained that “it is difficult for income to recover with the vigor that we would like due to the inflationary situation,” but stressed that “The parity system is a very vigorous institution in Argentina that affirms a very important democratic dynamic”.
The government seeks to combat inflation
The head of the Labor portfolio maintained that “Usually to resolve inflationary issues, adjustment policies are made that weigh fundamentally on the weakest sectors and that is what this Government wants to avoid.”
In this sense, he highlighted the commitment of the Executive power “It is to solve the inflationary problem without affecting the vigor with which employment is being generated and, at the same time, through the parity, to formulate a management that allows us that the workers do not lose in the face of inflation and put them in the conditions of even being able to win.”
