There were 74 bills that were approved in the AN during its last period of ordinary sessions

The president of the National Assembly, deputy Crispiano Adames, announced in his speech that during this period of ordinary sessions, 74 bills were considered, which underwent the entire legislative process corresponding to the three required debates.

Of those 74 projects mentioned, the deputy president stressed that 13 of them have been sanctioned by the Executive. He made reference to Law 325, which promotes socio-occupational guidance in official and private educational centers of secondary education at the national level.

Law 316, which regulates the conflict of interest, presented by the independent deputy Gabriel Silva; Law 321, which approves the agreement on the elimination of violence and harassment in the world of work, adopted by the World Labor Organization (ILO), in Geneva, at the request of trade unions.

He outlined the importance of Law 326, which creates the Criminological Policy in the Republic of Panama, Law 329, which establishes the obligation of neonatal screening.

The president of the Legislature was satisfied with the work carried out, since essential initiatives were discussed, among which project 859 stood out to curb the rate of those affected by the scourge of drugs by creating the Conapred Trust.

The 722 Project, which establishes a unified database on benefits owed and recognized by the State and economic support program.

As well as Bill 811, which creates the Ministry for Women; the 364 that decentralizes the public administration; the 907 that shields the auditors of the Comptroller’s Office and that strengthens the jurisdiction of accounts.

Adames also highlighted Bill 809, which regulates the practice of law in Panama, the two addenda to contracts with the State, which will allow the development of a port and container yard on Isla Margarita, in the province of Colon.

Likewise, he praised the role of the National Assembly, which played its constitutional role by submitting to scrutiny the appointment of Ariadne García as magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice, Second Criminal Chamber, and of Manuel Mata Avendaño as substitute magistrate of the Second Chamber of Criminal Justice. the criminal.

In the opinion of the president, it has been a very dynamic and tense period, above all, due to the essence of the legislation debated within this first organ of the State.

“We have differences, weaknesses, external opposition and many strengths that we have been able to capitalize on to promote the laws that are left for the country.”

The best thing that could be done, Adames maintains, was to work in harmony as in a family, where he recognizes that there were differences, challenges, threats, but they were overcome by opportunities.

The President of the National Assembly declared closed the first legislature of the fourth ordinary period corresponding to the constitutional period 2019-2024.
